Volunteers participate in a reenactment of a breeches buoy rescue on Tuesday at the Sleeping Bear Point Coast Guard Station Maritime Museum in Glen Haven. The museum hosts a reenactment of the rescue every day at 3 p.m. during the summer. Last year, the museum held a reenactment using a black powder Lyle Gun to launch the ropes into the water. The museum has indefinitely postponed the black powder demonstrations because there is not enough space on the beach to safely fire the cannon due to the high water levels on Lake Michigan, according to Park Ranger Brenda Appleby.
