BENTON HARBOR, Mich. (AP) — Whirlpool Corp. (WHR) on Wednesday reported second-quarter net income of $581 million.
On a per-share basis, the Benton Harbor, Michigan-based company said it had net income of $9.15. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring gains, came to $6.64 per share.
The results beat Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of four analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $5.89 per share.
The maker of Maytag, KitchenAid and other appliances posted revenue of $5.32 billion in the period, also surpassing Street forecasts. Three analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $4.87 billion.
Whirlpool expects full-year earnings to be $26 per share.
Whirlpool shares have climbed 20% since the beginning of the year, while the S&P's 500 index has climbed 16%. In the final minutes of trading on Wednesday, shares hit $217.19, a climb of 51% in the last 12 months.
