TRAVERSE CITY — Leah Simetz started the doubleheader with a bang. Allee Shepherd added her own fireworks.

The Traverse City St. Francis pitching duo each threw no-hitters Saturday in twin 15-0 victories over Suttons Bay.

Simetz started off with a three-inning no-hitter, striking out five and walking one.

Not to be outdone, Shepherd tossed a perfect game over three innings, fanning four without a Norse batter reaching base.

Simetz is a freshman, Shepherd a sophomore.

Maggie Napont led the Gladiator offense with six RBIs out of the leadoff spot. She batted 2-for-3 with a double and triple and four RBIs in the opener, and 1-2 with two RBIs, two runs and a pair of steals in the nightcap.

Quinn Boyle drove in five runs, Simetz four and Maggie Jarema three for St. Francis (6-0), which travels Monday to McBain. Boyle doubled twice, and Brooke Meeker belted a double and two RBIs.
