KINGSLEY — Kingsley’s senior class finished off a remarkable accomplishment Wednesday, beating Sault Ste. Marie to end their careers without a loss on their home court.

“I am 99.9-percent sure of that,” Stags head coach Dave Hall said. “I waited to tell the girls that until after the match.”

The Stags (54-7-3) hosted and beat Sault Ste. Marie 25-17, 25-23, 25-17 in Division 2 district volleyball action Wednesday, and head to Cheboygan on Friday after the Chiefs knocked off Grayling 3-0.

Kingsley can go for win No. 55 Friday night in the 7 p.m. district final.

Top performers for the Stags against the Blue Devils were Brittany Bowman (23 kills, 18 digs), Lark Jankewicz (30 digs, 38-40 serve receive, 2 aces), Sidny Hessem (eight kills, 18 digs), Austyn DeWeese (six kills, seven blocks), Maddie Bies (three kills, three blocks, 36 assists) and Aspen Reamer (two kills, one block).

Cadillac is on the verge of 40 victories after a 25-20, 25-11, 29-27 win over Ludington.

The Vikings (39-9-2) play Reed City in Thursday’s 6 p.m. district final. The Coyotes beat Benzie Central 25-15, 25-13, 25-14.

Leading Cadillac against the Orioles were Renee Brines (36 assists, 21 digs, two kills, two blocks), Macy Brown (15 kills, 16 digs, one block), Chloe Comstock (13 kills, five digs, three aces), Maggie Neiss (nine kills, three digs, two blocks, two aces), Makenna Bryant (15 digs) and Brooke Lorenz (nine digs, one ace).

Manton defeated Lake City in a marathon district match Wednesday, outlasting the Trojans 26-24, 23-25, 25-17, 23-25, 15-6.

The Rangers (38-3) have a quick turnaround, playing Pine River in Thursday’s district championship at 6 p.m. The Bucks beat Evart to get to the finals.

“I am very proud of the team’s tenacity,” Manton head coach Nicole Helsel said. “We now have a short time to recover and prepare mentally for Pine River in the finals tomorrow night.”

Leading the Rangers against Lake City were Abby Brown (four aces, six kills, one block, 52 assists, 18 digs), Addison Letts (three aces, two kills, three assists, 32 digs), Brianna Puffer (26 kills, three blocks, six digs), Jaden Wilder (20 kills, two assists, 40 digs), Leah Helsel (six kills, one block, seven digs), Madalynn Lutke (one ace, 22 digs) and Megan Moffit (two aces, four kills, 25 digs).

Leland defeated district host Frankfort 25-13, 25-11, 25-11, and can pick up the team’s 40th win of the season in Thursday’s final against Brethren.

The Comets (39-14-3) were led by Gillian Grobbel (two kills, three aces, two digs), Jana Molby (26 assists, five digs, one ace, one block), Jennifer Estrada (two digs, two aces), Mia Osorio (10 digs, two aces), Olivia Lowe (seven digs, eight kills, four aces, one block), Sarah Elwell (eight kills, three blocks) and Tatum Kareck (12 kills, four digs, one ace).

Brethren beat Manistee Catholic Central 25-22, 25-15, 25-15 to earn a spot in finals opposite Leland.

Traverse City Christian punched its ticket in the Division 4 volleyball district finals at Buckley with a 3-0 win over Mesick.

The Sabres topped the Bulldogs 25-8, 25-22, 25-8 Wednesday to earn a spot in Friday’s 7 p.m. title match against Marion, which beat McBain Northern Michigan Christian in straight sets.

TC Christian won its 35th match of the season to improve to 35-5.

The Sabres were led by Abbey Brower (13 digs), Jillene Bouwmeester (seven kills, six blocks), Emma Mirabelli (18 kills, 11 digs, two aces) and Camille Thurman (three aces, three digs, one kill).

Bellaire targets its fifth district crown in a row after a 25-4, 25-4, 25-5 victory over Alba in which the Eagles served up 26 aces.

Bellaire put up more aces (26) than digs (12) in the match.

The Eagles play Central Lake in Thursday’s district final at Boyne Falls. The Trojans defeated Gaylord St. Mary 25-16, 25-23, 25-27, 25-15 Wednesday.
