MANISTEE — Oil City took over control of the Great Lakes United Baseball League with a four-game weekend sweep of second-place Manistee.

The Stags completed that weekend with 10-5 and 8-2 victories Sunday at Rietz Park.

Josh Riggs (Brethren) had a double, a run and an RBI for Oil City (10-0) in a 1-for-6 twinbill outing, a day after dominating the Saints on the mound in one game and at the plate in the other.

Lucas Richardson (Brethren), Lucas Weinert (Gladstone) and Trenton Smiley (South Haven) had two hits each for Manistee (9-5). Logan Briggs (Traverse City Central) and Travis McCormick (Mason County Eastern) had the others.

The Saints had just three hits in the nightcap — one each by Weinert, Briggs and Nick Brzezinski (TC West). Kyle Gorski (Traverse City) started and struck out five in 4.2 innings before Roddy MacNeil (Brethren) tossed 2.1 scoreless innings in relief, fanning three.

Manistee hosts the Detroit Jetbox next weekend at Rietz Park for a pair of games Saturday and Sunday, both slated for 1 p.m. opening pitches.
