Beach Bums re-sign Arbelo
TRAVERSE CITY — First baseman Yazy Arbelo has re-signed with the Traverse City Beach Bums.
The power hitting left-hander led the 2014 team with 17 home runs and 61 RBIs.
Arbelo enters his sixth season in professional baseball.
The 26-year old previously spent four seasons in the Arizona Diamondbacks’ organization after being drafted in the 26th round in 2010.
In five years in the minors, Arbelo has hit 75 home runs with 233 RBIs, 171 runs and 64 doubles in 347 games.
Dream Team meetings slated
TRAVERSE CITY — Two informational meetings regarding the Dream Team will be held Thursday at the Traverse City District Library on Woodmere Street.
The Dream Team is Traverse City’s first organized baseball league for teens and youths with disabilities, ages 8-18.
The Dream Team was developed to give youths of all abilities the opportunity to play baseball with their peers. Partner players from local baseball and softball teams will be paired with Dream Team players during game play, which will start this spring.
The meetings are from noon to 1 p.m. and 6-7 p.m. in the Thirlby Room.

TRAVERSE CITY — Registration for the 2015 Traverse Area Girls Softball (TAGS) season is under way.
Early registration continues through Sunday.
