ROCKFORD, Illinois — It took just a bit too long for the TC Pit Spitters to get their bats going on Wednesday night at Rivets Stadium.
It wasn’t until the fifth inning that the Pit Spitters were able to score a run in the 8-4 defeat to the Rockford Rivets.
Rockford’s Brad Littleton shut down the Traverse City bats through four innings en route to a win from the mound.
Littleton found some trouble in the fifth and sixth innings, allowing one and two runs respectively before riding the pine.
The Rivets scored two in the third and dropped three more runs in the fifth to extend their lead to four runs before the Pit Spitters had any response.
Daniel Head, who made his first appearance for TC on Monday, put the first run on the board in the fifth.
In the sixth Hudson Byorick was walked and Andrew Morrow rocked a two-run home run to put the Spitters back within two runs.
TC scored again when Chase Andrews was batted in by a Head double.
Rockford tacked on three more runs in the eighth to make the spread too much for TC to overcome.
Chrisitan Faust also had an RBI for the Spitters. Mario Camilletti, Morrow and Head each had two hits for the Spitters.
Traverse City moves to 4-5 on the season, marking the first time this season they are under .500.
