KALKASKA — Traverse City St. Francis girls kept their unbeaten start to the season alive with a 51-27 road basketball win against previously unbeaten Kalkaska Friday.

The Gladiators (6-0, 3-0 LMC) had three players reach double digits in scoring, led by Sarah Carney’s 11 points. Anny Lyman and Juliana Phillips each scored 10 points.

TCSF rushed out to a big lead in the first quarter with a 20-2 run to begin the game. 

Micah Lajewski led Kalkaska’s offense, which went 10 of 48 from the field, with eight points.

TC St. Francis will host Cadillac Monday.


TC Central 56

Ogemaw Heights 31

Traverse City Central’s girls basketball team (2-5, 2-1 Big North Conference) earned its second consecutive win Friday, 56-31 over Ogemaw Heights.

All 11 Trojan players scored in the game, led by Jennifer Rose with 12 points and Sierra Fraser with 11. Carrie Wynkoop added eight points.

Maya Tambs led Ogemaw Heights with eight points.

The Trojan JV team won 48-24 and the Ogemaw Heights freshman picked up the victory, 36-18.

Central will host Cadillac Friday.

Manistee 53

Cadillac 34

Manistee girls (9-0) picked up a 53-34 basketball win over Cadillac Friday and remain undefeated on the year.

Audrey Tomaszewski scored 18 points, Emilee Kott added 14 points, six assists and four steals and Annie Fuller and Emily Thompson each scored eight.

The Chippewas scored double figures in all four quarters and grew their lead in the second half with a 26-12 advantage.

Manistee will host Ludington Tuesday.


TC St. Francis 67

Kalkaska 45

Traverse City St. Francis (2-4, 2-1 Lake Michigan Conference) got a boost from three double-figure scorers in its 67-45 boys basketball win over host Kalkaska Friday.

Gus Danz scored 16 points, Gabe Callery added 15 and Marek Laucky posted 13 in a game that was a single-digit affair heading into the fourth quarter.

The Gladiators dominated the final period 21-8.

TCSF will host Pine River Tuesday.

TC Central 66

Ogemaw Heights 46

Traverse City Central (2-7, 1-2 Big North Conference) picked up a 66-46 boys basketball win Friday over Ogemaw Heights.

Jackson Schrameyer led the Trojans with 27 points and 11 rebounds, Devante Walker added 17 poinst, five assists and four steals and James Brumfield had eight steals.

Dillon Zettle led Ogemaw Heights with 22 points.

Central won the JV contest 47-18. The Trojans were led by 16 points from Zeke Turner.

Central also won the freshmen game 56-38 with 18 points from Jordan Vicent.

Manton 66

Lake City 50

Manton controlled Lake City from start to finish, leading after each quarter, en route to a 66-50 win.

Wyatt Baker led the Rangers (5-2, 2-0 Highland Conference) with 17 points, nine rebounds, six assists and five steals. Teammate Jayden Perry chipped in 13 points and had five assists. Tyler Swing scored 12 points and grabbed five boards and Ethan Ancick had eight points and 10 rebounds.

Lucas Marion led Lake City with 23 points.

Manton will travel to McBain on Thursday.
