TRAVERSE CITY — Led by Brendon Gouin, Gaylord captured the Traverse City Central Invitational crown Monday.

Gouin shot a 72, trailing only Cheboygan's Zach Gildner (70) in the event.

Kyle Putnam (81, 10th), Joe Kowatch (84), Kyler McKenzie (84) and Sean Jardine (85) were the Blue Devils' other top scorers, as Gaylord's team score of 321 edged out Cadillac by two strokes.

Traverse City West (329) was only eight shots off the lead in third place, followed by TC Central (331), Petoskey (331), Elk Rapids (339), Cheboygan (343), TC St. Francis (343), Suttons Bay (345), Ogemaw Heights (350), Alpena (376), Big Rapids (379), Mt. Pleasant (390) and Charlevoix (412).

After Gildner and Gouin, teh top 10 consisted of Joshua Lavely, Elk Rapids (75); Tyler Campbell, (Cadillac 77); Ethan Summerfield, Suttons Bay (77); Tyler Frechette, TC West (79); Tai Coveyou, Petoskey (80); Harry Chipman, Cadillac (80); Jake Beaudoin, Charlevoix (80) and Putnam and West's Nick Bostwick tied for 10th at 81.

TC West's other counters were Murphy Kehoe (82) and Steven Gorlay (87), while Central's leaders were Zach Galan (82), Austin Schultz (82), Shea Harmeson (83) and Jack Bostwick (84).

West won the junior varsity portion of the tournament with a 374, led by Andrew Rickenberg (91, T-2nd), Patrick Witham (92), Carson Nowak (95) and Zach Niedermaier (96). Central took second at 379, led by Noah Manning (91, T-2nd), Scott Harvey (92), Matt Machin (93) and Julian Dittmers (101). Gaylord's Jack White was JV medalist at 87.

Tommy Puetz led TC St. Francis with an 84, followed by Luka Salata (85), Matt Ehardt (86) and Adam Chittle (88). After Sommerfield, Suttons Bay was paced by Matt Smith (87), Sean Wilson (89) and Cam Knaub (92).

The Big North teams head to Alpena for Tuesday's BNC invitational at Rivers Edge.
