Grand Rapids Forest Hills Northern rallied to win the Lober Classic golf tournament Friday by a half dozen strokes. The Hawks ended the two-day tournament featuring 38 teams with a 650, just ahead of Muskegon Reeths-Puffer's 656.

Christiansen had 12 points and seven steals in her final United States high school game to help Benzie Central to a 69-38 nonconference victory over visiting Traverse City Central (4-9), giving the Huskies (10-2) a sweep of matchups against Central and West.

TRAVERSE CITY — Getting back into the swing of things after a long break can be tough for any team trying to shake off some rust. That seemed to be the case early on in Wednesday's girls basketball matchup between Traverse City West and Benzie Central at West Senior High School before the Huskies found a rhythm to win 60-43.

BENZONIA — That was not exactly what Benzie Central was looking for to start the varsity boys basketball season. The Huskies got down 2-0 in the early moments of Monday’s game against McBain, and the Ramblers never looked back — taking a 19-2 lead after the first quarter on their way to a 58-35 victory.

Benzie Central was playing with house money. The Huskies — whose goal all season was to win a district championship — bowed out 54-45 to a 21-2 Big Rapids team in a Class B boys basketball regional semifinal at Cadillac.
