TRAVERSE CITY — Police swarmed a downtown bank that was supposed to be closed for Columbus Day after a would-be patron set off the bank's alarm. Traverse City police and sheriff's deputies armed with shotguns and assault rifles responded to the Fifth-Third Bank on the corner of Front and Unions streets today at about 4:45 p.m. in response to the bank alarm.
