Flawed MDOT design!

After attending the recent MDOT open house, I came away with a sense of despair over what the MDOT engineers have come up with as a solution to the traffic trying to enter/leave the Commons grounds via 11th Street. While their idea of creating an island between north and southbound lanes for pedestrians crossing over Division may be an improvement, the addition of left turn lanes onto 11th, 12th and 13th streets that would allow motorists to avoid having to go to the light on 14th would be disastrous to the safety of the neighborhood.

When asked about the concerns of traffic dumping into our neighborhood, their reply to one resident was "that’s not their concern" as it then becomes a "city issue" to somehow curb the number and speed of those trying to avoid the light by turning down one of these streets. I sure hope the city commissioners see the flaw in this proposal and speak up for the residents who live in this neighborhood as it is just another detriment to what’s becoming a less friendly/safe place to reside.

Mueller Report concerns

The Mueller Report details “Active Measures” Russia used to support the Trump campaign. I was surprised to learn that Russia also supported Bernie Sanders’ campaign for the Democratic nomination.

Here are three quotes from the Mueller Report that concern me.

From Russia’s Internet Research Agency’s internal documents: “Main idea. Use any opportunity to criticize Hillary and the rest (except for Sanders and Trump – we support them.)” [MR, p. 23]

The Russian IRA also used fake Twitter accounts, including one described as “an account with 3,800 followers that posted pro-Sanders and anti-Clinton material”. [MR, p. 27, fn. 70]

On July 6, 2016, WikiLeaks contacted the Russian military’s intelligence department. “If you have anything Hillary related, we want it in the next two days… because the [Democratic National Convention] is approaching and she will solidify Bernie supporters behind her after… We think Trump has only a 25 percent chance of winning against Hillary … so conflict between Bernie and Hillary is interesting.” [MR, p. 45]

Bernie Sanders is running again and may still be getting some benefit in the polls from Russian support he unwittingly received in his last campaign. Or, could it be worse? Are Russia’s “Active Measures” continuing?
