Politics over patriotism
There is much evidence yet to be discovered in the Trump Ukraine scandal — witnesses to be interviewed, documents to be unearthed and examined. But Rep. Jack Bergman has already rushed to judgment, saying of the whistleblower report in his Sept. 27 "Bergman Brief" that "we see that this entire story and basis of these claims are entirely second or even third hand rumor. This entire charade is beneath the office we serve in . . ."
Not for the first time Bergman is putting politics ahead of patriotism. He wants to make excuses; he wants us to look away. That is dereliction of duty. Like good cops or good reporters, all of us and our representatives in Washington should be taking this hot tip and following it up to get at the truth. My guess is that we should all start trying on the phrase “President Pence” for size.
