Some long-awaited construction projects at Traverse City's Central and West senior high schools should help the district meet new science-related graduation requirements and do better science.
Each school will get a couple new labs to cope with increased usage. Students will now be required to take three years of science instead of two, and there wasn't enough lab space to begin with. A science lab and classroom also are planned at the alternative Traverse City High School.
Specialized spaces are another way for the district to compete for students hungry for hands-on opportunities.
