TRAVERSE CITY -- Police arrested two men in a stolen vehicle from downstate.

A Traverse City police officer saw a suspicious vehicle in the area of Front and Hope streets Thursday night, according to a police statement. The officer checked the vehicle's license plate and discovered it was reported stolen in Lansing. The officer stopped the vehicle and arrested the driver and a passenger.

The driver, a 46-year-old Marquette man, was jailed for possession of a stolen vehicle. The passenger, a Lansing-area man, 36, was jailed on an outstanding warrant for failing to register as a sex offender. Names were not released.
