SOLON — A 26-year-old Traverse City man was arrested after fleeing from police and crashing his motorcycle.
On Friday just after 8 p.m., a Leelanau County Sheriff Office patrol sergeant clocked the man going 89 mph eastbound on M-72 near Lautner Road in Solon Township, according to a Facebook post by the sheriff’s office. He was driving a 2007 Kawasaki ZX600 motorcycle.
The driver sped up and continued until making a turn up Morgan Hill Road, a private roadway, the post states. He attempted to make a sharp turn, but was thrown off the motorcycle.
Elmwood EMS and Northflight EMS responded to treat the driver’s injuries and he ultimately was transported by Northflight to Munson Memorial Hospital for treatment of abrasions, according to the post.
The driver was released from the hospital and arrested for fleeing and eluding police. He also was cited for traveling 89 mph in a 55 mph zone.
