Planes taking flight after hiatus this morning

TRAVERSE CITY -- Flights resumed in and out of Cherry Capital Airport this afternoon.

Airport Director Kevin Klein said three morning flights out of the airport were delayed until after 12:30 p.m. because of poor visibility. Two arriving flights also were cancelled.

"The visibility was slowing us down today," Klein said. "You couldn't see."

Klein said the airport's minimum visibility is a half-mile, but for parts of the morning it was down to zero.

"Hopefully, as the weather improves we'll get back to a normal schedule," Klein said.
