TRAVERSE CITY -- A section of Silver Lake Road from South Airport Road north to Wyatt Road will remain closed to traffic for two more days.
The delay is due in part to motorists who have ignored the road closed signs, including some who have gotten stuck, road commission officials said. Residents will be allowed access to their homes while paving continues but no through traffic will be allowed. The road commission called in the sheriff's department to enforce traffic laws in the work zone.
The intersection at South Airport and Silver Lake roads remains open. Weather permitting the road should reopen to through traffic on Saturday. The project is part of Grand Traverse County's ongoing $4 million summer road improvement project.
