TRAVERSE CITY — The naked runner who escaped handcuffs last Saturday during the opening weekend of the National Cherry Festival wasn’t so lucky on his second unclothed excursion.
Traverse City police officers arrested a 33-year-old man Wednesday evening near the Oryana Community Co-op near Tenth Street after witnesses reported seeing a man wearing only a black baseball cap and tennis shoes running on the train tracks and weaving in and out of the bushes, Capt. Keith Gillis said.
“He didn’t have his wallet on him, let me say that,” Gillis said. “When we caught him he was just getting dressed.”
Gillis said officers arrested the man as he was getting dressed and that the man cooperated with police. Gillis said the man also was connected to in an incident June 29 along the Boardman Lake stretch of the TART trail. Grand Traverse County sheriff’s deputies were unable to locate him at that time.
Investigators are requesting charges from the prosecutor, Gillis said.
