TRAVERSE CITY — Prosecutors dished up a misdemeanor charge for a Buckley man accused of leaving a loaded handgun in a pizzeria's restroom.
Brandon Reed Martin, 40, walked into Pangea's Pizza Pub on May 30 with his .45-caliber pistol, but emerged unarmed after he left the firearm on a sink in the men's restroom. Restaurant staff called police, who confiscated the weapon.
A police report states Martin had a valid concealed pistol permit, but Grand Traverse County Prosecutor Bob Cooney wanted to review the case for a potential crime. Eighty-sixth District Court documents state prosecutors this week authorized a charge of reckless use of a firearm, a misdemeanor.
Martin, when reached for comment Friday, referred questions to his attorney. He did not identify his lawyer.
