INTERLOCHEN — Police arrested an area man after he allegedly flashed a series of motorists along M-137 in Interlochen.
Grand Traverse Sheriff’s deputies arrested a 52-year-old man around 8 a.m. Monday after repeated emergency calls to report indecent exposure by a pedestrian walking northward along the shoulder of the highway near the Interlochen Arts Academy campus. The man is suspected of felony indecent exposure by a sexually delinquent person, authorities said.
The suspect remains held at the Grand Traverse County Jail. He is scheduled for arraignment Thursday in 86th District Court.
Capt. Randy Fewless refused to identify the suspect because he has not yet been arraigned for the felony arrest, but said the man has a history of indecent exposure and lewd behavior.
In this case, he “purposely exposed or flashed” at least three passing motorists, he said.
The suspect was reportedly wearing a trench coat, robe or some type of dress, Fewless said, while he carried a pair of shorts in his hand.
Fewless said the felony charge was because the suspect has prior cases for indecent exposure still pending before the court.
