TRAVERSE CITY — The public is invited to help craft a strategic plan for the 1.6 miles of Lower Boardman River that wind through downtown Traverse City.

Officials with the Lower Boardman River Leadership Team will host a public engagement kick-off — primarily a conversation along the river — from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 12, at the Farmers Market Lot B. The effort for community participation will continue through summer, though organizers intend to launch sign ups for participants this week.

The river leadership team was formed as an ad hoc committee by the Traverse City Downtown Development Authority. More information about the effort can be found online at under the quick link for the Lower Boardman River Project.
