This circa mid-1930s picture of Front Street in Traverse City looks east from approximately the intersection at Pine Street. The building that housed the former Ford dealer, Grand Traverse Auto Company, is on the left side of the photo. The clock tower of what is today Fifth Third Bank is on the same side of the street. On the right side of the street, in the distance, is a building with the name Hotel Traverse at the top of the structure. For much of its life this facility was known as the Wilhelm Building. Today the remaining two floors exist. These images are provided by the Traverse Area Historical Society in collaboration with the Traverse Area District Library.
