MANISTEE — Manistee first responders discovered the body of Carolyn Skaff Saturday morning after a volunteer-assisted search.
The Frankfort 66-year-old was reported missing Friday afternoon while windsurfing on Bear Lake, near Manistee. Witnesses told law enforcement that Skaff was not wearing a life jacket.
Volunteers with the area’s Community Emergency Response Team found Skaff around 9:40 a.m. along the lake’s shore. The Manistee County Sheriff’s Office Marine Patrol, Department of Natural Resources, Bear Lake Fire Department and Michigan State Police assisted with the case and search.
A Sunday autopsy is set to determine Skaff’s cause of death.
The case remains under investigation.
