Pancake breakfast fundraiser

MAPLE CITY — The Cedar/ Maple City Lions Club hosts a pancake breakfast from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Feb. 10 at 100 E. Bellinger Rd. Adults eat for $9; kids ages 6-12 eat for $5. Proceeds fund scholarships, vision assistance programs and other causes.

Winter Potluck Series continues

BENZONIA — Grow Benzie hosts the Winter Potluck Series at 6 p.m. Feb. 12. The Benzie Community Water Council hosts a panel discussion featuring local water conservationists. Attendees are encouraged to bring a dish to share. Free-will donations support local water projects and scholarships. This event is part of the 2019 Water Festival.

Fundraiser tickets available

TRAVERSE CITY — Tickets are available for the annual Taste of Success fundraiser, set for April 12 at the NMC Great Lake’s Culinary Institute. Chili competition

ELK RAPIDS — Downtown Elk Rapids hosts its second annual Chili Cook-Off from 2-5 p.m. Feb. 16. People can sample each dish and vote for their favorites. Tickets are $5 at the Elk Rapids Area Chamber of Commerce, Nifty Things and Cellar 152 Pub and Provisions.

Food drive extended

TRAVERSE CITY — The Father Fred Foundation extended its annual Frostbite Food Drive through Feb. 15. Accepted items include canned tuna, oatmeal, peanut butter, pasta and canned fruits. This year’s goal is to collect 1,000 items. Cash donations help purchase perishable items. People can drop off donations at 826 Hastings St.

Lions Club serves breakfast

EMPIRE — The Empire Lions Club serves a pancake breakfast from 8 a.m. to noon Feb. 17 at the Town Hall. This fundraiser supports the club’s community projects, college scholarships, leader dog school and international programs. Cost is $8 for adults and $4 for kids ages 7-12.
