Fishtown celebration

LELAND — Fishtown Preservation Society celebrates its final mortgage payment with a mortgage burning at 5:45 p.m. Feb. 14. Rooftop lights go on at 6 p.m. Feb. 7. Visitors can view the “Love Fishtown Week” display nightly from 6-10 p.m. through Feb. 16.

Dental Health Day events

TRAVERSE CITY — Northern Michigan Oral Health Coalition celebrates National Children’s Dental Health Month Feb. 9 at the State Theatre. Kids can enjoy a showing of the PG film “Goosebumps 2” and a short skit by NMC dental assistant students. Oral care bags and resources are available. Tickets are 25 cents.

Winter stories

GLEN ARBOR — The Glen Arbor Arts Center explores winter through stories with Here:Say Creative Director Karen Stein at 2 p.m. Feb. 10. This event is part of the “Talk About Art” series and is offered in conjunction with the juried exhibition “Winter,” on display until Feb. 28.

Photography presentation

NORTHPORT — Northport Arts Association hosts photographer Bill Muempfers at 4 p.m. Feb. 10 at the Village Arts Building. Muempfers speaks about cameras, equipment and how to take a good photo.

Habitat for Humanity fundraiser

TRAVERSE CITY — Family Fare Supermarkets customers can donate to Habitat for Humanity- Grand Traverse Region when they checkout at the Traverse City, Grawn and Kalkaska stores. One-hundred percent of funds collected through Feb. 17 help support Habitat for Humanity’s Veterans Build program.

Student scholarships available

TRAVERSE CITY — The Grand Traverse Regional Community Foundation is offering more than 90 scholarship opportunities for graduating high school and current college students in Antrim, Benzie, Grand Traverse, Kalkaska and Leelanau counties.

New awards include the Angelo and Michele Vozza More Than Robots Scholarship for students who have been involved in FIRST Robotics and the Patrick J. Carroll Memorial Scholarship for students pursuing music or multi-media arts.
