Chimes CEO meet and greet

INTERLOCHEN — Woodstock Percussion, Inc. CEO Gary Kvistad hosts a meet and greet from 10 a.m. to noon June 18 at Interlochen Center for the Arts. The Interlochen Arts Academy alumnus plans to talk with wind chime fans, sign his work and provide free mini chimes.

Jazz at Sunset starts June 20

TRAVERSE CITY — The 26th season of Jazz at Sunset begins June 20 at Chateau Chantal. Multi-instrumentalist Rob Smith, Laurie Sears and watercolorist Lisa Flahive join the Jeff Haas Trio in concert from 7-9:30 p.m. The series continues on Thursdays through August.

Downtown walking tours

TRAVERSE CITY — Traverse Area Historical Society offers Downtown Tours this summer. Meet at 10:30 a.m. at the Perry Hannah status on Sixth and Union streets. TRAVERSE CITY — Local kindergartners through sixth graders are invited to Camp Invention this summer. The STEM program features hands-on activities that use farm technology, robots and other tools. Library receives NEA grant

BEAVER ISLAND — Beaver Island District Library was one of 78 nonprofits nationwide to receive a $5,000 grant from the National Endowment for the Arts, in partnership with Arts Midwest. The library plans to use the funds to host the NEA Big Read from September through June 2020. Planned activities include a performance of “Our Town,” writing contest, art shows, book discussions and more.

Port Oneida races

MAPLE CITY — Registration is open for Historic Sleeping Bear’s 10th annual Port Oneida run/walk, set for Aug. 3 at the Port Oneida Farms Heritage Center/Olsen Farm. Races include the Tiller’s 10K, Homesteader’s Hilly 5K, the Farmer’s Flat and Fast 5K and the kid’s 1/4 mile Schoolhouse Dash. The kids’ race costs $5. All other races are $30 until July 31.
