Agripreneur class offered
TRAVERSE CITY — A series of classes will help entrepreneurs learn how to start or grow a food or farm business. The classes are designed for those who need added guidance in launching or growing start-ups, not for those searching for an idea. Eight sessions will be offered on Tuesdays from 3 to 6 p.m. Feb. 3 through April 7 for $250 per-person. Pre-registration and payment are required. American Spoon awarded
TRAVERSE CITY — American Spoon was named a 2015 Good Food Awards winner for its Wild Thimbleberry Jam, Wild Blueberry Compote and Ramp Kimchi, a collaboration with The Brinery in Ann Arbor. American Spoon Culinary Director Christopher Dettmer accepted the award Jan. 8 in San Francisco.

Dine Out for BACN
ELBERTA — The Mayfair Tavern in Elberta and Geno's Sports Bar & Grill in Thompsonville will donate part of the proceeds from dinner sales to Benzie Area Christian Neighbors on Feb. 3. The proceeds will help BACN purchase food for its pantry that helps more than 1,200 families monthly.
Good Agriculture Practices information session

FRANKFORT — Benzie Bus and Crystal Mountain launched a Ski-n-Ride program to offer Benzie County skiers and snowboarders a free ride to Crystal Mountain on Thursday and Friday afternoons.
Benzie Bus will pick up riders at the following times and locations: Frankfort Elementary at 3:05 p.m., Frankfort High School at 3:10 p.m., Honor Plaza at 3 p.m., Benzie Central High School at 3:15 p.m., Shop-n-Save at 3:30 p.m. The final bus will depart the resort at 8 p.m., arriving at Benzie Central High School at 8:20 p.m., Shop-n-Save at 8:30 p.m. and Family Fare in Frankfort at 8:50 p.m.
Adults riding the bus can purchase lift tickets for $19, children under 17 can purchase lift tickets for $15.

TRAVERSE CITY — Registration is open for the U.S. Green Building Council of West Michigan's Battle of the Buildings. Participants will measure, track and report their monthly energy consumption. Chateau Grand Traverse awarded
TRAVERSE CITY — Chateau Grand Traverse received double gold medals for its 2013 Lot 49 Riesling and its 2013 Etcetera White in the 2015 San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition. 2013 Whole Cluster Riesling and 2013 "Laika" Gruner Veltliner received gold medals. Four other wines received silver medals.
