Swingshift hangs up dancing shoes for season

TRAVERSE CITY — SwingShift and the Stars raised over $275,000 for six local charities in its 2015 season.

Grand Traverse Pavilions Foundation and "star" dancer Evelyn Richardson raised the most money, with $82,009, squeaking by the Peter Dougherty Society and dancer Pete Correia, with $81,285 after the December finale. Leelanau Children’s Center’s dancer Mike Baker and his instructor-partner Sharon Pascoe were the dance winners with a season total score of 35.125. They brought in the third highest money total, with $36,510.

Other charities and their totals were: Bethany Christian Services and dancer Becky Osborne, with $34,932; Speak Up and dancer Paul Groesbeck, with $21,962; and the Music House Museum and dancer Kristen Lowe, with $18,623. The totals are being verified by financial sponsor 5th/3rd Bank.

Donations for the season will be accepted until January 18 at highimpactnow.com.
