Delicious Bread Pudding

  • 4 c. bread cubes, crusts removed
  • 1 13&1/2-oz. can evaporated milk
  • 2/3 c. water
  • 1/2 stick butter
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 2 eggs, slightly beaten
  • 1/4 t. salt
  • 1 t. cinnamon or nutmeg
  • 1/3 c. dried cherries, or raisins

Scald mixture of evaporated milk, water and butter. Add sugar, beaten eggs, salt and cinnamon or nutmeg to that mixture.

In separate bowl, soak dried cherries in warm water for 10 minutes; drain. Combine all ingredients and place in buttered casserole dish placed in pan holding one inch of water. Bake until silver knife inserted one inch from the top of the dish comes out clean.
