Area singes invited to an evening out
PETOSKEY "” Area singes 40 and older are invited to join the Singles for Christ of Zion Lutheran Church for an evening out.
The group will meet at 7 p.m. today at the Bob-In Again, 1150 Bayview Road for dinner and then will go to Zion Lutheran Church, 500 W. Mitchell, for movies, cards and board games. There also will be a demonstration of origami by artist Sheila Barnes.

Bishop Baraga School open house
CHEBOYGAN "” An all-school open house will be held Tuesday at Bishop Baraga Catholic School.
The school was established in 1856 by Bishop Frederic Baraga. It has been in its new building at the corner of Western and Lincoln avenues since September 2005.
The open house will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. The community is invited to visit the classrooms, meet the teachers and principal, and explore the school's facilities. In addition, various school committees and organizations will have informational displays and representatives present. Holy Week at St. Francis Church
TRAVERSE CITY -- St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Parish has released its schedule for Holy Week.
The observance will begin with Holy Thursday Mass at 7 p.m. on Thursday. Following Mass, Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament will take place from 8 to 10 p.m. in the Garden Chapel.
Good Friday worship will be held from 12:30 to 3 p.m. It will include veneration of the cross.
On Holy Saturday, March 22, Blessing of Easter food baskets will take place at noon at the church. An Easter Vigil Mass will be celebrated at 8 p.m.
Masses on Easter Sunday, March 23 will be celebrated at 9 and 11 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Singles' group postpones meeting
TRAVERSE CITY -- The singles' group at First Church of the Nazarene will not meet on Thursday because the church is hosting Safe Harbor.
The group, which normally meets on the third Thursday of the month, will meet next at 7 p.m. on April 17 at the church, 1023 S. Division St. For details, call 228-3333.
Easter Vigil focuses on light and water
TRAVERSE CITY -- An Easter Vigil service will take the place of the "Light the Fire" service on March 22 at First Congregational Church.
The Easter Vigil is adapted from an ancient liturgy of the church. It proclaims the cosmic significance of God's saving acts in history.
The service of light and water will begin at 6:30 p.m. at the church, 6105 Center Road. It will include an optional renewal of baptismal vows and Communion, with contemporary music. Call the church, 947-6698, for details.
Enrollment under way at TC Christian
TRAVERSE CITY -- Traverse City Christian Schools has begun enrolling for the fall 2008-09 school year.
The school was established in 1979 and offers Christian education for students in pre-kindergarten through 12th grade. It is located at 753 Emerson.

Performance added as band benefit
TRAVERSE CITY -- An encore performance of the musical, "Me and My Girl," has been scheduled for Sunday at 2 p.m. at Traverse City West High School.
All tickets are $15. The performance is a benefit to help support an upcoming trip by the high school band to Hawaii.
