LELAND — The annual Friends of Fishtown 5K run/walk starts at 9 a.m. July 20. Fish costumes are encouraged. Entry is $35 per person. Proceeds benefit the Fishtown Preservation Society.

EMPIRE — Decorate a bike, vehicle, body or pet for the Anchor Day Parade July 20 at 2 p.m. Meet at Johnson Park, 11570 Reynolds St., at 1 p.m. Anchor Days also features a movie screening at 7:30 p.m. July 19.

Come for the race, Empire Lions Club chicken dinner and street dance on Saturday.

Bike around Torch Lake

ELK RAPIDS — The annual Ride Around Torch is set for July 21 at Elk Rapids High School.

Flora and fauna walk

BELLAIRE — The Blooms and Birds Wildflower Walk is set from 10 a.m. to noon July 23 at Grass River Natural Area. GRNA docent Julie Hurd leads a stroll to listen and look for birds.

Yoga in the Outdoors

BELLAIRE — Yoga in the Outdoors starts at 10 a.m. July 24 at Grass River Natural Area. Instructor Jason Minaker leads stretching and breathing activities for all abilities.

Bring a yoga mat, if possible. Cost is $5 per person.

Night Golf rescheduled

TRAVERSE CITY — Elmbrook Golf Course rescheduled its Night Golf event for July 26.

The two-person scramble tees off at 9:30 p.m. following registration and check-in at 9 p.m.

Trapping convention

ESCANABA — The National Trappers Association’s annual Convention/Outdoor Expo is July 26-27 at the U.P. State Fairgrounds. Eagle updateOMENA — Retired Michigan DNR biologist Jerry Weinrich presents an upate on the recovery and status of bald eagles in Michigan at 10 a.m. July 27 at Saving Birds Thru Habitat.

Weinrich has been the official bald eagle counter for the federal and state governments for several years.
