Lawn games available

GLEN ARBOR — Historic Sleeping Bear provides old-fashioned lawn games Sundays from 2-4 p.m. July 14 through Aug. 18 at Port Oneida Farms Heritage Center/ Olsen Farm. Families can try croquet, cornhole, box hockey, horseshoes and other activities.

Nighttime paddle

ALDEN — Juniper Garden Club of South Torch Lake hosts the “Gardens to Make the Heart Sing” walk from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 17. Explore six gardens from Torch Lake to Lake Bellaire. TRAVERSE CITY — Friendly Garden Club hosts its annual Garden Walk from noon to 7 p.m. July 18 in the Holiday Hills area. Enjoy homemade refreshments and floral and education displays at Unity of Traverse City during the event. A native plant sale and seminars are also available. TRAVERSE CITY — The Grand Traverse Stewardship Initiative and partners will offer hands-on river study for formal and informal educators from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 16 and 9 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. July 17. Guest educators will be Kate Thornhill from Leo Creek Preserve, Lauren Hucek from ForLoveOfWater and Heather Smith from The Watershed Center. Deer hunting licenses
