FIFE LAKE — Forest Area Federal Credit Union announced it will add its sixth branch location this fall in Mesick.
The new branch, at 101 W. Mesick Ave., will feature a full-service drive-through and an ATM, according to a release from FAFCU.
Forest Area Federal Credit Union CEO Greg Gurka said in the release that the board of directors started strongly considering expanding into Mesick after learning the village was losing its only financial institution in December.
“We felt that we needed to do something,” Gurka said in the release.
Gurka said expanding into the Wexford community reflects the philosophy of FAFCU founder Rodney Larr to serve small, rural areas.
Hours for the lobby of the Mesick branch will be 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Drive-through hours will be 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Friday, and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday.
Forest Area Federal Credit Union was established in 1983. FAFCU operates locations in Fife Lake, Kingsley, Kalkaska, Manton and Lake City. The credit union services residents of Antrim, Crawford, Grand Traverse, Kalkaska, Missaukee and Wexford counties.
