TRAVERSE CITY — Frankfort Beer Week returns for a fourth year and the Cloudvitational is back for its second.
The fourth annual festival of beer and food-themed events starts pouring on Monday, Oct. 9, and concludes on Saturday, Oct. 14, at 21 locations in Frankfort and neighboring Elberta.
Highlighting Frankfort Beer Week is the return of Cloudvitational, where area chefs prepare a meal that is paired with a beer from the Stormcloud Brewing Company. The multi-course meal will be held on Monday, Oct. 9, at 6:30 p.m. at the Chimney Corners Resort north of Frankfort on Crystal Lake.
Chefs attending the event are Mike Fradette of Bradley’s Pub and Grille in Interlochen, Simon Joseph of Harvest and Gaijin in Traverse City, Joe Meyers of Stormcloud Brewing Company in Frankfort, Adam Raupp and Devin Shaw of Mission Table on Old Mission Peninsula, Andrew Schudlich of Epicure Catering and Cherry Basket Farm in Omena, Steve Tebo of Chimney Corners Resort in Frankfort and Katie Viswat of 7 Monks Tap Room in Traverse City and Boyne City.

Chimney Corners Resort and Stormcloud Brewing Company will make a donation on behalf of the event to the Benzie County Council on Aging’s Meals on Wheels program.
Other Frankfort Beer Week activities include:
— State of Michigan Hops and Grains presentation: Michigan State University Extension Office educator Rob Sirrine, Dean Baas of the W.K. Kellogg Biological Station and Iron Fish Distillery co-owners Sarah and Richard Anderson will explore the hop and grain growing industry in Michigan at The Garden Theater on Tuesday, Oct. 10, at 7 p.m. Tastings of beers brewed with Michigan-grown hops also will be featured.
— Paints and Pints: Discover how to paint an abstract composition under instruction from Brian Iler, associate director of Frankfort’s Oliver Center, while sipping a brew on Wednesday, Oct. 11, at 5:30 p.m.
— Beer and food pairing workshops: Stormcloud Brewing Company and FrankZ each will host a beer and food pairing workshop. Stormcloud’s Beer and Cheese Pairing workshop on Thursday, Oct. 12, features The Cheese Lady of Traverse City. FrankZ will host a Beer and French Fries Pairing workshop on Friday, Oct. 13.
Other Beer Week events include a beer tent at Frankfort’s annual Fall Festival on Betsie Bay, a homebrewers competition, an Oktoberfest celebration and beer-infused food offerings at many area restaurants.
