Registered Nurse Barb Worland gives the COVID-19 vaccine to Patricia Niswander at the Glen Eagle retirement community on Tuesday in Traverse City. "I was nervous, but there was nothing to it," said Niswander. Staff from Walgreen's delivered the Moderna version of the vaccine to over 70 residents and associates of the senior living center, which was was one of seven in the Holiday Retirement system to receive the vaccine through the Pharmacy Partnership for Long-Term Care (LTC) Program. The LTC is a partnership between the Centers for Disease Control, CVS, Walgreens, and Managed Health Care Associates, Inc., that offers on-site COVID-19 vaccination services for residents of nursing homes and assisted living facilities, as authorized by the state. Pharmacist Becky Davis said Walgreen's staffers spent Monday delivering the vaccine to residents at the Grand Traverse Pavillions, Medilodge, Cordia at Grand Traverse Commons and Orchard Creek Senior Living and Healthcare, and will visit more Traverse City facilities on Wednesday and Friday, with facilities in Bellaire, Central Lake and Kalkaska on Thursday. They plan to return to the facilities 28 days later to administer the second dose of the vaccine.
