Several readers responded to a request for information on the History Center of Traverse City archive photo that appeared in the April 11 Community section.
Jim Tompkins, Sue Dinio (McCort) and Blanche Lather Breithaupt all identified the girls in the photo as members of the Traverse City Central High School Class of 1950.
Dinio, who is the girl wearing a "Sue" shirt in the front row, said the photo was taken at her family's home on Washington Street in Traverse City. She said the girls belonged to a Potluck Club that met each Friday during the school year; she thought this club photo was taken on a Friday before the Traverse City Central High School football game.
Pictured in the back row, left to right: Beverly Shaw, Joan Essex, Marjorie Dumbrille, Blanche Lather, Marjorie Wright, Carol Nesman; middle row, left to right: Mary Whitelock, Shirley Nelson, Dorothy Samuelson, Virginia Eagleton, Janet Lemen, Joan Curtiss, Glenna Thompson; front row, left to right: Emaly Kleis, Barbara Bye, JoAnna Curtiss, Suzanne McCort, Vivian Parker.
"This was taken at Sue M's home. We wore red knee (socks), saddle shoes, blue jeans rolled up to knees, (gray) sweatshirts (with) white 'dickies' collars! Such fun ... ahh, those were the days!" Blanche Lather Breithaupt wrote in an email.
Bob Pierson also identified Blanche Lather. Beverly Stevens, a Central High Class of 1952 graduate, recognized Dorothy Samuelson and JoAnna Curtiss.
