Historical Photo: 12/02/2019

Did you know Grandview Parkway was not built until the early 1950s? This aerial winter image was probably taken in the mid- to late 1940s. It shows the foot of West Bay near the intersections of North Oak, left, and Hall streets, right, with Bay Street, which runs parallel to West Bay. The factory buildings along the Bay were torn down when Grandview Parkway was built. The building just north of the round gas tank near the center of the photo today houses the Candle Factory. Also, you can see that several railroad tracks were still actively used. These images are provided by the Traverse Area Historical Society in collaboration with the Traverse Area District Library.
