Artist talks sculptures
GLEN ARBOR — MSU graduate student Rebecca Casement will talk about her new series of clay sculptures beginning at noon June 14 at Glen Arbor Arts Center. She is creating the works as part of her 2019 artist residency at the center.
TRAVERSE CITY — Central United Methodist Church will host a memorial concert at 2 p.m. on June 14. The concert features church organist Tom Bara. The Moreland family is sponsoring this free event to remember Helen Moreland and her love of music.

Art in Nature fundraiser
TRAVERSE CITY — Human Nature School hosts its next Art in Nature event 1-5 p.m. on June 15 at Unity Church. The topic is “Cool Bugs We Love: The Role of Insects in Northern Michigan.” Local crafters, students and artists will present their works. Exhibitors include Grand Traverse Beekeeping Club and Grand Traverse Butterfly House and Bug Zoo. This fundraiser supports youth scholarships. Contact: 231-642-5575.
TRAVERSE CITY — Grand Traverse Bay YMCA released its 2018 Annual Report and announced award winners during its annual meeting at the end of May. Sojourn Church and Munson Healthcare earned the Community Award for dedication to the community’s health and well-being. Board Campaigner of the Year went to Mike Brown. Staff Campaigner of the Year went to Jenny Graber. These awards are given to employees whose efforts impacted the nonprofit’s fundraising efforts.
