ARCADIA — Benzie Audubon Club members and friends gather at 7 p.m. July 24 at the Grand Traverse Regional Land Conservancy Arcadia Marsh. Spend an hour or two looking for birds and butterflies. Experience not needed.

Magic on the Rocks

Beer release party

TRAVERSE CITY — A beer release party goes from 4-7 p.m. July 26 at Silver Spruce Brewing. The “Bicicleta” is a pale ale created for Norte Youth Cycling. A dollar from each pint benefits the organization.

Mensa testing set for July 27

TRAVERSE CITY — Mensa hosts a testing session at 1 p.m. July 27 at Unitarian Universalist Congregation. A person must score in at least the 98th percentile to qualify for membership in the society. Space is limited. Tests cost $60. Registration: 231-640-4569; jsvoyageur@gmail.com.

Space experiment

CAPE CANAVERAL — West Senior High School students Hattie Holmes, Langley Nelson, Kale Cerny and Lainey Wickman designed an experiment that was selected by the Student Spaceflight Experiments Program. The ninth-grade honors biology students’ experiment “The Growth of Bacillus Subtilis on a Substrata Material in Microgravity” will be performed at the International Space Station. Munson Healthcare’s Microbiology Lab will assist in an experiment on Earth.

School supplies needed

WILLIAMSBURG — Samaritas Senior Living is collecting donated school supplies and backpacks for kids in its foster care, affordable living, family homeless shelters, refugee resettlement, independent living for teens and family preservation programs. Accepted items include pencils, pens, notebooks, binders, glue sticks and tissues. Drop off donations at 4354 Mt. Hope Road in Williamsburg. The backpack drive goes through the second week in August.
