U.S. Sen. Debbie Stabenow, of Michigan, was in Leelanau County to talk with area farmers, local conservancy staff, conservation program members, Conservation District employees and Michigan State University educators about the 2012 Farm Bill. Stabenow, chair of the U.S. Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry, toured Michigan last week to visit farms and talk to growers about conservation programs in the Farm Bill that work and those that could be improved.
