Marjorie L. Van Horn, 83, of Traverse City, passed away peacefully on Feb. 26, 2012, at Munson Hospice House in Traverse City.
Margie was born on Jan. 20, 1929, in Detroit, daughter of Lloyd and Evelyn (Hale) Galbreath. On June 3, 1950, in Detroit, she married Charles J. Van Horn. He preceded her in death March 17, 1983.
An avid sailing family, many life-long memories and friendships were made through the Grand Traverse Yacht Club, as well as the family's affiliation with the National Cherry Festival Board.
Margie worked as a technician at the Beaumont Building Lab, where more friendships were made; "The Beaumont Babes."
After retiring from the lab, Marge co-owned the consignment shop Twice as Nice with her dear friend, Mary White.
In addition to her family and friends, Margie also enjoyed estate sales, genealogy and travel.
Margie is survived by her children, Charles L. (Cynthia) Van Horn, Cheryl (Geoffrey) Tindall, Ron (Becki) Van Horn, and Lynn Van Horn; seven grandchildren, Libby (Steffen) Sabas, Joshua (Ashley) Van Horn, Zachary Van Horn, Charles Tindall, Carlie Van Horn, Abigail Van Horn, and Andrew Van Horn.
In addition to her husband, Marge was preceded in death by her grandson, Benjamin.
A memorial will be celebrated in the spring.
