ROGERS CITY -- Manton's David Ashley left nothing to chance.
Ashley won his weight class at Saturday's Division 4 individual wrestling regional at Rogers City to earn a berth in the state finals at The Palace of Auburn Hills in two weeks.
Ashley went 3-0 at 103 pounds to claim the regional title. All three of his victories were by pin and improved his season record to 33-5.
Manton also advanced Jim Dyer, who was second at 189 pounds. Dyer was 2-1 on Saturday and is 16-2 on the season.
Corey Webb failed to qualify at 140 for the Rangers. But he did pick up one win to give him 100 for his career.
Also at the Rogers City regional, Kingsley advanced four wrestlers to the state final. The Stags qualified 12.
Three of Kingsley's four state qualifiers were third at regionals with 3-1 records: Trevor Voice (103), Austin Sanchez (125) and Josh Newville (171).
Billy Preston also qualified by finishing fourth at 130.
TC West, Central fail to advance wrestler to state
TC West's Seth Chargo and TC Central's Kyle McLachlan each had a victory, but couldn't crack the top four at the Division 1 individual at Hartland.
Chargo went 1-2 at 160 pounds. He recovered from a 14-6 loss for a 12-4 victory before being eliminated with a 10-6 defeat.
McLachlan opened with a forfeit victory at 215 pounds before suffering back-to-back losses. Central's Dylan Thorington was 0-2 at 189 pounds.
