Glads win first district wrestling title
KALKASKA -- In its fourth year, the Traverse City St. Francis wrestling program won its first-ever team district title. The Gladiators defeated Charlevoix 39-33 and Mancelona 40-36 in the field at Kalkaska. "We won it with seven freshmen starting, one senior, one junior and a sophomore," TCSF coach Mike Simaz said. Double winners for the Glads were Jack Jamison (112 pounds), Seth Calcutt (119), Khamsi Riddell (145), Hayden Wilson (152) and Paul Britten (215). St. Francis will travel to Munising for team regionals next week, after competing in individual districts this Saturday at Reed City.
