  • Gordon a state champion
    Forest Area's Justin Gordon capped an undefeated senior season Saturday by winning the Division 4 171-pound state title at The Palace of Auburn Hills. Previously, Gordon was a state qualifier as a junior, but struggled to a 1-2 record at The Palace. This year was a different story.

    St. Francis won its first district wrestling championship last week, but the Gladiators bowed out in their regional opener Wednesday.

  • Titan wrestlers fall in district finals
    Traverse City West beat Alpena, but then dropped a match to Escanaba in the district wrestling finals.

  • Wrestling Roundup: Central advances 4; West 3
    Traverse City Central and West moved seven wrestlers on to regionals in Saturday's Division 1 district at TC Central. (Plus more wrestling.)

  • Glads win first district wrestling title
    In its fourth year, the Traverse City St. Francis wrestling program won its first-ever team district title.

  • Prep Roundup: Stags secure wrestling title
    Kingsley won its first Mid-Michigan Conference wrestling tournament Saturday, edging Pine River. (Plus more wrestling, hockey, and boys and girls basketball.)

  • Kingsley rolls to two dual wrestling wins
    Kingsley earned a pair of Mid-Michigan Wrestling Conference victories over Traverse City Central's B team (84-0) and Forest Area (55-8).

  • TC defeats Alpena in wrestling dual
    Mitch Harrison at 112, Brendan Casler at 140 and Matt Town at heavyweight all won by pin as Traverse City West defeated Alpena in a Big North Conference wrestling dual.
