TRAVERSE CITY -- The Traverse City Wolves kept their season alive Saturday night, beating the London Silverbacks 20-6 in a North American Football League playoff game at Thirlby Field.
The Wolves (8-3) will hit the road next week to face either Racine or Indianapolis. Traverse City lost road games to both those teams during the regular season.
The Wolves, who beat London for the second time in three meetings, built a 13-0 lead at half and never looked back. Traverse City scored a touchdown on offense, defense and special teams.
The Wolves scored on a Will Moran to Nick Carlson pass, a Zach Beeler interception and a Tim Ohlert punt return. Pablo Bocardo kicked two extra points.
London moved the ball effectively through the air, especially in the first half. The Silverbacks had a field goal blocked in the first half, which ended in some controversy. With the clock winding down and the Silverbacks out of timeouts, London reached the Wolves 1. But by the time officials spotted the ball after a pass completion, the clock had nearly expired. The Silverbacks rushed to spike the ball and were called for illegal procedure. The clock then ran out before London could get another play off.
Traverse City had two touchdowns called back in the second half -- one on a pass from Moran to Ohlert.
London (6-4) scored its touchdown in the final minute of play.
