TRAVERSE CITY -- Even the rain couldn't stop the Traverse City Wolves in Ontario on Saturday night.
D. J. Szymoniak rushed for 124 yards and three touchdowns as the Wolves thumped the Tri-City Thunder 56-6 in a rain-soaked North American Football League game.
The Wolves, 4-0, scored three touchdowns in the first quarter in dominating the Thunder for a second consecutive week. It was 42-0 at half.
Szymoniak gained his 124 yards on nine carries. Casey Conklin lugged the ball nine times for 114 yards. Anthony Stewart rushed for 64 yards in four carries. Conklin and Stewart each scored a touchdown.
In addition, quarterback Will Moran connected with Will Conklin on a long scoring pass.
Defensive back Tim Ohlert returned an interception for a touchdown for the third consecutive game.
The Wolves defense, spearheaded by linebacker Ryan Brown, held the Thunder to a negative 12 yards in offense. Tri-City's lone TD came late after it recovered a fumble at Traverse City's 12 yard line.
