Speaker discusses fresh food program
TRAVERSE CITY — Diane Navarro, RN, BA, will be the guest speaker at the Thursday, Dec. 9, meeting of the Registered Nurses Association in Michigan. All nurses and student nurses are invited.
The meeting will be held from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in conference room E at Munson Community Health Center, 550 Munson Ave.
Navarro will discuss the Fresh Food Partnership and "Making the Connection: Building A Good Food Bridge Between People in Need and Our Region's Farmers."

Benefit for Sairy Franks of Beulah
TRAVERSE CITY — Friends, family and other supporters will hold a benefit for Sairy Franks, of Beulah, next week
Franks was diagnosed with Lyme disease in 2001, was treated and thought to be cured. She was again diagnosed with the disease in 2008, at which time she also was diagnosed with two additional tick-borne diseases considered to be fatal. Now her best chance for a cure may be at a clinic in northern California.
The benefit will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 9, at the Mercato at the Village at Grand Traverse Commons, 800 Cottageview Drive. Local food, wine and beer will be available, and a silent auction is planned. Admission will be by donation. Proceeds of the benefit will help Franks make the trip to California.

Studio offers fertility yoga workshop
TRAVERSE CITY — Yen Yoga & Fitness will offer a workshop to address increasing interest in fertility yoga.
The gentle, meditative yoga workshop is geared toward calming the mind and opening the body. It will be taught by yoga instructor Aimee Meeker.
The workshop will meet from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 12, at Yen Yoga & Fitness on East Front Street. The cost is $25. Partners are encouraged to attend at no additional charge.
