Parkinson's group

TRAVERSE CITY — The Parkinson's Support Group will meet at 10 a.m. today, Oct. 23, at the Traverse City Senior Center, 801 E. Candidate forum

TRAVERSE CITY — Seven candidates seeking seats on the Traverse City City Commission will participate in a forum today, Oct. 23, at 3:30 p.m. at the Central High School auditorium, 1150 Milliken Dr.

The forum is sponsored by the Traverse City Area Chamber of Commerce and the candidates will respond to questions concerning business-related topics.

Frankfort film fest

FRANKFORT — The Garden Theater will sponsor the fifth annual Frankfort Film Festival Thursday, Oct. 24, through Sunday, Oct. 27.

Passes for the four-day festival are $70; individual films are $10 each and will be on sale one hour prior to each film's screening. The schedule and weekend passes are available at www.frankfortgardentheater.com.

Spanish Club meets

End-of-life plan

BEULAH — “Planning Your Own Dying Time,” a unique class for individuals interested in planning their end-of-life care, funeral and more, will be held Saturday, Oct. 26, at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, 8190 Lincoln Road.

The free class will meet from 9:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Topics include the Five Wishes, choosing a hospice, making an ethical will and more. A simple lunch will be served. To learn more, call 882-9750.

‘Joy-full’ event

TRAVERSE CITY — Unity of Traverse City’s six-week fall program has joy as its theme. It includes Sunday lessons and small group meetings focused on the study of joy using Tommy Newberry’s book “40 Days to a Joy-Filled Life.” The community also is invited to join the congregation for a celebration on Saturday, Oct. 26.
