Water Trail plan

ELK RAPIDS — The Grand Traverse Regional Land Conservancy recently received a Coastal Zone Management grant to develop a water trail plan for the region. The plan will be discussed at a meeting today at the Old Village Hall meeting room.

The meeting from 5:30-7:30 p.m. will offer an opportunity for community involvement. There also will be a program on Trail Towns, discussing the link between trail systems.

ACTS celebrates

WILLIAMSBURG — The Acme Christian Thrift Store and Food Pantry (ACTS) will celebrate its one-year anniversary at its new location with a Community Appreciation Celebration from 3-5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19. ACTS is located at 8925 M-72 East.

Craft and Bake Fair

TRAVERSE CITY — First Baptist Church, 244 Washington St., will host its 20th annual Craft and Bake Fair from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19. For details, call 946-4727.

Relay for Life

KALEVA — Kaleva Crusaders & Friends Relay for Life team will hold a chili and soup lunch from 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, at the Kaleva Lion’s Den. Proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society.’

Lap harp class

TRAVERSE CITY — Marilyn Wares will introduce the tranquility lap harp in a class from 1:30-3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 20. The class is free and harps will be provided. No musical experience is needed. For details, to register or for class location, call Wares, 223-4895.

World Religions

TRAVERSE CITY — Life Academy at Northwestern Michigan College will offer a four-session World Religions class.

The class will meet from 3-5 p.m. Tuesdays, Oct. 22-Nov. 19. It will be led by Rabbi Chava Bahle. The book “Wisdom of the World” by Joan Chittister is required and available at the NMC Book Store. The class fee is $79. For details or to register, call 995-1700 or visit

Church’s ‘Big Blast’
